What is the Deck Rail?
Toyota and Nissan (and occasionally other brands) sometimes use a system called “Deck Rail”. This is a system that has a channel on the underside of the bed rail that accessories can slide within. You will typically see handles or Tie Down Points in the rail from the factory. If you have this, you will need to order the Deck Rail clamp.
Will the rack work with a Tonneau cover?
Yes, there are multiple options for using a Tonneau cover.
- T-Track Covers: Yes
- Soft Roll Covers: Yes, with exceptions
- 3 or 4 Fold Hard Covers: No
- Hard Roll Covers: Yes, with exceptions
T-Track-equipped covers are the easiest. They feature integrated tracks that allow for easy attachment of the Big Days rack using optional T-Track mounting hardware.
Soft-shell tonneau covers can work as well if they don't have a T-Track function. The rack will likely need to be bolted directly to the truck, which means drilling a hole in the top of the top of the bed, outboard of the cover. This method requires at least 3 inches of flat bed rail outboard of the cover for the risers to rest on. If the tonneau cover extends all the way to the outside of the bed, it will not be compatible.
Not compatible:
-Hard-body tonneau covers – These sit flush with the bed rails and prevent the rack from mounting.
-Tri-fold tonneau covers – Most tri-fold covers interfere with the rack’s mounting system and bike clearance. We have had some customers drill into them and mount the rack dirtecly to them, but this isn't a tested option.
Note that MTB hauling uses our lower crossbar, which sits in the bed. It will conflict with a tonneau cover and need to be removed when closing the cover. We've added a simple design to make for quick lower bar removal (under 30 seconds)

How does the Bolt-On option work?
The Bolt-On option requires drilling into the bed of your truck. You will need to drill 4 - ⅜” size holes into the top of your truck bed side rails for the rack to work.
What tools do I need for installation?
A 4mm allen wrench is included with each rack. Aside from that you will need a 13mm wrench (socket is preferred), and if you are doing the drill in option, a drill with a ⅜” bit. For the hitch rack, a 19mm wrench will be needed to secure the hitch lock into place. A second person is also very useful and can provide good comedic entertainment if you pick the right person.
Why is there no specific place for my rear wheel to go on the bike holder?
You’ll notice that we don’t have a specific spot for the rear wheel to stay on the lower bar on both the TrailBreaker and TrailHead racks. We’ve done this for a very specific reason. Every bike is a different size and length, so when the rear wheel is restricted to a single position, the rack manufacturers must allow for wiggle room to make the varying bike sizes work. Wiggle room means one thing: WIGGLE. When there is independent movement in the bikes, you get bikes touching each other, leading to damage to your bikes. By not restricting where the rear wheel goes, it allows the bikes on the rack to sit in the best possible position for each bike, making for a more secure ride. That way, when you hit extreme bumps or holes, the bikes will move together, not independently.
Does the bar in the bed come out?
The lower cross beam can be easily removed to allow for 100% truck bed usability. What have we found through driver feedback? That bar does way more than people ever thought it would, so maybe you won’t want to take it out as much as you think you will...
How do I load a dirtbike into the Big Days dirtbike mount?

Option 2: Two Person Load - Once the bike is in the bed of the truck, each person grabs the lowers of each side of the fork, and lifts the bike up into the mount, making sure to not bump the one towards the outside of the truck out of the truck.
Option 3: One Person Load - Get the bike into the bed, then lift the bike onto a middle ground surface, IE the lower bar, a cooler, etc. Then, get underneath the bike, and lift straight up and into the tray.

How does the T-Track system work?
T-Tracks aren’t something new; the T-Track system has been used in construction for years. It’s built for durability and strength, two things that are the core of our business, so it was a no brainer to go this route for us. The way it works is fairly straightforward: there is a specifically shaped channel within the different cross bars. These channels have 1, 2, or 3 hole nuts that are built to slide within these channels.
How do the DIY Utility Brackets work?
The DIY brackets are designed to hold anything, in any way. From fridges to loads from the hardware store, they can be adapted to carry anything you think. WIth our T-Track system, the L Brackets attach at a point and then are able to be loosened so they can slide to fit the size of the load you need to carry. Once in position, simply tighten them down, then use a tie down strap or a bungee cord to secure your load.
How long does it take to install the Big Days Chase Rack?
Most customers can install the Big Days Chase Rack in about 30–60 minutes, depending on their truck, mounting method, and experience with basic hand tools.
The rack is designed to be a straightforward installation that can typically be completed in your driveway or garage without any specialized equipment.
What tools are required?
The Chase Rack requires only a few common tools:
- Included 4 mm Allen wrench
- 13 mm wrench or socket
- For bolt-on installation: Power drill and 3/8" drill bit

How does the bike mount work with road bikes?
The Big Days Bike Mount secures the bike by the front tire, making loading and unloading quick and eliminating frame contact.
Since road and triathlon tires are significantly narrower than mountain bike tires, we recommend placing a towel or similar padding around the rim and tire. This helps:
- Fill the extra space created by the narrower tire
- Protect carbon or alloy rims from rubbing
- Reduce movement during transport
- Provide a more secure fit
Does the Big Days Chase Rack work with Fat Bikes?
Yes. The Big Days Chase Rack can transport fat bikes, but the best mounting option depends on your tire width.
Many fat bikes fit in the standard Big Days MTB Bike Mount. However, if your front tire is too wide to fit the MTB Bike Mount, you can use the Big Days Moto Mount instead.
The Moto Mount is designed to accommodate much wider tires, making it an excellent solution for oversized fat bike tires that exceed the capacity of the standard bike mount.
Which mount should I use for my fat bike?
The correct mount depends on your tire size:
- Standard fat bike tires: Use the Big Days MTB Bike Mount if the tire fits properly.
- Oversized fat bike tires: Use the Big Days Moto Mount for additional tire clearance.
Does the Big Days Chase Rack work with street motorcycles?
Yes. The Big Days Chase Rack can be used to transport many street motorcycles, provided the motorcycle falls within your truck's payload capacity and the rack's weight limits. When paired with the Big Days Moto Mount, the Chase Rack provides a secure and stable way to haul motorcycles without the need for a trailer.
The Moto Mount provides a stable cradle for the motorcycle's front tire, while the motorcycle is secured using tie-down straps attached to the Chase Rack.
What types of street motorcycles can it carry?
The Moto Mount is designed to accommodate any motorcycle tire up to 5 inches wide, allowing many street motorcycles to physically fit the system.
However, Big Days has only tested the Moto Mount with dirt bikes, adventure bikes (ADV), dual-sport motorcycles, and supermotos. While many street motorcycles with tires under 5 inches wide may fit, compatibility and safety cannot be guaranteed for other motorcycle types.
What is the in-bed stability bar (lower bar) on the Big Days Chase Rack, and do I need it?
The In-Bed Stability Bar, also known as the Lower Bar, is a removable crossbar that mounts between the rack uprights inside your truck bed.

How do I load a dirt bike into the Big Days moto mount?
The Big Days Moto Mount is designed to secure dirt bike transport while keeping your truck bed open for gear and passengers. Depending on your setup and available help, there are several ways to load a dirt bike into the mount.
Option 1: Ramp Load (Recommended)
Using the optional loading ramp is the easiest and most controlled loading method.
How It Works
- Position the ramp securely against the truck bed.
- Lightly throttle the dirt bike up the ramp and into the Moto Mount tray.
- Once the bike is resting in the mount, roll or scoot it forward slightly to create space for ramp removal.
- Remove the ramp from the truck.
- Slide the bike back into its final position within the Moto Mount.
- Secure the bike according to the recommended tie-down procedure.
For most riders, the ramp-loading method offers the quickest and most convenient way to load heavier dirt bikes.
Option 2: Two-Person Load
If you don't have a ramp available, two people can carefully lift and position the bike into the Moto Mount. This method requires coordination and careful handling to avoid dropping or damaging the bike.

We believe in second chances. Thanks to the mirrored design of the Chase Rack's upper bar, you can simply remove it, flip it over, and give it a brand-new life. The opposite side has an identical T-Track, so if one side takes one for the team, you've already got a fresh one waiting.
Why is the upper bar reversible?
The upper crossbar is built with mirrored T-Tracks on both sides, so accidental damage doesn't automatically mean buying a replacement bar.
